Our Philosophy
~Askew Ballet Academy is focused on classical ballet technique, as it is the essential foundation for all professional concert dance; but we also understand the importance of other dance styles in the development of well-rounded dancers, and will provide training and opportunities in those techniques as well.
~The health and well-being of each student is our primary concern. Teaching methods are based on proper body alignment and muscle usage to ensure safe development of technique. We are also mindful of the importance of a nurturing environment to support student student development and mental health.
~Students at the Askew Ballet Academy are expected to work to their highest potential. In return, they will receive the personal care and expert attention to their training that they deserve.
American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum
Askew Ballet Academy utilizes the American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum for its ballet classes. ABT® developed this curriculum by taking the best aspects of the great schools of ballet - French, Italian, Russian - and synthesizing them, keeping the health of the student as the primary focus.
Certification in the ABT® NTC requires teachers to successfully complete rigorous and intensive training, including passing both written and oral examinations. All ballet teachers at the Askew Ballet Academy are certified in the ABT® NTC.
