Ballet Theatre of Oklahoma City
- Artistic Director Penny Askew Ballet Theatre of Oklahoma City is a nonprofit ballet company dedicated to providing high-quality performance opportunities to pre-professional dance students.
The company has performed such ballets as Peter & The Wolf and the Shel Silverstein-inspired Something Silly for area elementary schools, in addition to performances that include these ballets along with other works of new original choreography. Last season, the company performed the Act II Divertissements from The Nutcracker in December, and then presented The Toy Shoppe & Other Dances in April.
This season, the company presented Clara & Friends Go To The Nutcracker in December.
In May, the ensemble presented The Festival of the Bell, based on Act III of the ballet classic Coppelia,
paired with short original works of choreography, including A Gathering of Angels,
which commemorated the 30th anniversary of the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building.
The Adult Ballet Collective
Conceived by Sterlin Mosley as a way to provide adult ballet dancers with performing opportunities,
this group is comprised of dancers who take our Open Teen/Adult Ballet classes.
ABC has performed new, original choreography on programs with Ballet Theatre of OKC,
and was featured on Central Oklahoma Ballet Theatre's Polarities program,
held at the University of Oklahoma Reynolds Performing Arts Center in May 2022.
The Collective will be performing again with Central Oklahoma Ballet Theatre for its summer 2025 performances in August.
